I was born and raised in the Pacific Northwest, and have had a passion for veterinary medicine from an early age. As a child, I would set up a “clinic” in my bedroom complete with an appointment book and several “injured” animals. When I was 11, my mom got me a gift certificate for riding lessons, and I’ve been hooked on horses ever since. Watching the equine veterinarian at the barn perform pregnancy checks and lameness exams fascinated me. After attending the University of Washington where I received my Bachelor’s Degree, I moved to Colorado and obtained my Master’s Degree in Environmental Health as well as my Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from Colorado State University. I then came to Arizona for the first time and completed a one-year surgical, medical, and ambulatory equine internship at Chaparral Veterinary Medical Center. Over the next several years, I honed my skills at an equine exclusive practice in Mississippi as well as a mixed animal practice nearby in Flagstaff. My favorite clinical areas include internal medicine, geriatrics, neonatology, preventative medicine, and emergency/critical care. I especially enjoy providing focused, personalized care for horses that are loved as members of the family. I also have a soft spot for all things mini and donkey!
Outside of work, I love to be outside hiking or riding (and spoiling) Shaggy, my Appendix Quarter Horse. I am also an avid reader and typically have multiple books going on at once. My Arizona family consists of my partner in life, Kenny, our three dogs (Angus, Ellie Rae, and Radley), two cats (Kevin and Kyle), and Shaggy. (Source)
