Comments

Guinness has been diagnosed with EMS and insulin resistance after several bouts of laminitis over the past 2 years. It has been a long and difficult road. He was on 1 Prascend and 1 1/2 scoops of levothyroxin a day until June 26, 2022 when he had another episode of laminitis and the levothyroxin has been increased to 3 scoops a day. He will be on this medication long term due to him foundering every time we try to wean him off of it. He does not have access to pasture and as of last Sunday we are now soaking his hay in an attempt to reduce the level of sugars. We believe this last bout of laminitis was due to the new hay. He gets 1 cup of Equalizer for vitamins and minerals and 1 cup of Purina Senior Evolution a day in which his medications are mixed in. He gets approximately 15 lbs of 2021 Ontario mixed hay. No hay analysis available. He is my daughter’s beloved pony who used to use him for pony club and jumping activities.
