We are now accepting nominations for publications to include in Mad Barn’s roundup of the Most Interesting Equine Research Studies of 2024. Your nominations will help us spotlight the researchers that are moving the equine industry forward, from optimizing nutrition and welfare to pushing the boundaries of performance science.

By participating, you’ll help ensure the most influential findings reach horse owners, equine practitioners and industry participants worldwide, empowering them with the latest insights to inform their care and decision-making.

By participating in this project, you are helping expand our Research Bank and bring the latest in equine research to everyday horse owners.

Our 2023 Equine Research Review highlighted studies that spoke directly to the Mad Barn team’s mission of advancing equine science. This year, we’re opening submissions to you — equine researchers, clinicians, and professionals at the forefront of discovery — to help us select cutting-edge projects that matter most to the broader equine community.

Our Process:

  1. Nominations: We gather suggestions of standout 2024 equine studies.
  2. Expert Review: Our team of equine scientists, nutritionists, physiologists, and veterinarians evaluates each nominated study for relevance, impact, and applicability.
  3. Drafting Once selections are made, we may reach out to authors for additional information before drafting accessible, lay summaries.
  4. Publication: The 2024 Research Review will be released in early April 2025, with all first and last authors notified.

Why Participate?

  • Serve the Community: Highlighting impactful studies makes cutting-edge equine research more accessible to horse owners, practitioners, and enthusiasts.
  • Advance the Field: Your nominations help grow our Equine Research Bank, a resource that helps make research more accessible to the equine community.
  • Boost Visibility: Give deserving work the attention it merits and inspire researchers to discover projects outside their immediate areas of expertise.
