Alejandro Rey, DVM

Dr Rey, has been practicing Veterinary Medicine for 25 years, in Canada and the USA since 1998. It all started as a small child growing up and working at a farm, where he discovered his dream of working with horses. He spent a lot of his time at the race track sharing his father’s and grandfather’s passion for race horses. Later he, competed show jumpers as an amateur rider.

As an FEI treating veterinarian, Dr. Rey has extensive experience in the racing and show horse industries. At first, his practice was limited to Sports Medicine treating both race horses and show horses. Through the learning he gained in this work, he was lead to focus his practice in the diagnosis and treatment of back pain in high level performance horses.

After 8 years of working with Sport Horses competing in a variety of disciplines including; Race Horses, 3-Day Eventers and Show Horses, he further specialized his practice to working with high-level show jumpers.

Dr. Rey’s extensive experience in international show jumping develops further each year. Thus far he works with horses competing for the British, United States Olympic Teams. He works with some of the top riders in the world, including number one rider in Europe and the number one rider in US. He is extremely passionate about his craft and truly enjoys working together as a team with his patients and clients. This passion and love is what makes it possible for his contribution in the career of; Olympic Gold medalists, European Championship Winners, WEG medalists, Grand Slam Winners, Global Tour Champions.
