Amber Fischbach, DVM

grew up in rural Missouri working in my parents’ mixed animal veterinary hospital and animal rescue program and always knew I wanted to be a veterinarian. I received my Bachelor of Science in Animal Ecology at Iowa State University and earned my Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at the University of California, Davis. I recently moved to Portland which has been a lifelong ambition of mine, in order to be closer to family and practice medicine in a community that holds a high standard of care for their animals. I am very excited to be at Irvington Veterinary Clinic and look forward to meeting my new patients. I enjoy learning about the unique needs and personalities of my patients and their families as well as collaborating with them to develop individualized treatment plans that best fit their lifestyles. It is important to me to stay current on the rapid advances in veterinary medicine so I frequently attend lectures, read journal articles, and connect with veterinary specialists in my free time. I am very passionate about behavior medicine and believe the emotional health of animals is just as important as their physical health. I am equally passionate about animal rescue work and look forward to finding volunteer opportunities to help homeless animals in Portland and surrounding areas. Outside of work, I enjoy endurance running, playing volleyball, snowboarding, and camping. I love spending time with my rescue dogs and cats, who also enjoy going on camping trips. (Source)
