Bruce W. Christensen, DVM

Dr. Christensen graduated from Cornell University’s College of Veterinary Medicine in 2002. He completed an internship at Garden State Veterinary Specialists in Tinton Falls, NJ, a busy referral hospital for small animals. Dr. Christensen then completed a residency in theriogenology at the University of Florida, where he studied and trained in both canine and equine reproductive medicine. “Theriogenology” means “the study of the beginning of beasts” and a theriogenologist is essentially a veterinary OB-Gyn and urologist. Dr. Christensen became board-certified in the American College of Theriogenologists and stayed on as a clinician at the University of Florida before moving to Australia to join Goulburn Valley Equine Hospital as a senior veterinarian. Dr. Christensen then returned to the states to take a faculty position at Iowa State University where he helped build up their equine and canine reproduction services. In 2012 he moved to Davis, CA to take a faculty position at UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine where he was charged with resurrecting their equine reproduction program (it had been dormant for over 2 years) and creating a full-service canine reproduction program. Dr. Christensen has now returned to private practice with the founding of Kokopelli Assisted Reproductive Services. Dr. Christensen has authored many book chapters, peer-reviewed scientific publications, and lay articles on reproduction in many species, and has edited a text on canine reproduction. He loves working in California with the people who have a passion for their companion animals and breeding them to the best standards.
