Carly Louise Ross, DVM

I was born and raised in Arcata, California- a small town on the coast of northern California. I first became involved with horses when I was in college at UC San Diego. I learned to ride by playing polo. The class was advertised as “no riding experience necessary” so I signed up! From then on I was enamored with horses.

After graduating from college I attended horseshoeing school. Although I loved my work as a farrier I desired to learn more about horses, and so I pursued veterinary medicine.

I was fortunate enough to attend Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine and fell in love with the Midwest, and a Mid-westerner- my now husband John.

After completing vet school my husband and I spent a year in New York where I worked as a hospital and ambulatory intern at Rhinebeck Equine. In an area rich in thoroughbred and performance horses I gained experience in lameness and surgery.

Since returning to Iowa I have been building my veterinary practice in central Iowa. I enjoy working for all types of horses and horse owners- from the backyard pleasure horses to elite athletes. My goal is to help you enjoy your horse to the fullest. I think everyone should own one, those who don’t are missing out!

I share my life with my husband John, and two sons Gus and Hugh, as well as my horses June, Annie, Dolphin, and Velvet my dog Charlie. In my free time I enjoy trail riding, endurance riding, fox hunting and eventing. (Source)
