Carly Mayer Cowherd, DVM

Carly is a graduate of The Virginia – Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine and joined the Old Dominion Equine team following graduation in 2015. Carly has a strong interest in both routine and specialized dentistry and has completed extensive continuing education in this field. She also has an interest in general health and wellness, lameness, and reproduction.

Carly is a true Virginian, attending James Madison University for her bachelor’s degree in Biology, then she received her Master’s degree in Bioinformatics at Virginia Commonwealth University before attending vet school in Blacksburg. She completed an internship at the University of Kentucky working on the Equine Genome Project, then worked for the Medical College of Virginia on the Human Microbiome before attending vet school.

Carly is an active member with the Keswick Hunt Club and competes in the Hunter/Jumpers. Outside of horses, Carly enjoys slalom skiing and snow skiing. (Source)
