Chelsey Michelsen, DVM

Dr. Chelsey Michelsen was born and raised in the Houston area, and has been involved with horses and riding since early childhood. She has spent most of her life riding hunters, jumpers, and dressage horses, but also has experience with Western and Gaited horses.

She completed her undergraduate degree at Randolph-Macon Woman’s College (now Randolph College) in Lynchburg, VA, while participating in the collegiate equestrian program and volunteering at Brookhill Farm, a local horse rescue/rehabilitation farm in Forest, VA. She completed a year-long internship at Brookhill Farm focusing on behavioral and physical rehabilitation, barn management, and working with the at-risk youth group to teach them about horses and riding. She adopted and trained a rescued Tennessee Walker for gaited dressage/versatility, and spent time training and riding hunters. After completing a stint in the Army as a medic, Dr. Michelsen completed her DVM at Oklahoma State University, and has a particular interest in lameness and sports medicine/rehabilitation for horses and dogs.

She has always had pets, including a colony of hermit crabs, and is currently owned by two adopted terriers who participate in Barn Hunt, Agility, and general terrierist activities. In her free time, Dr. Michelsen enjoys riding horses, spending time being active with her dogs, and cooking and baking. (Source)
