Claudia Cruz Villagran, DVM

Dr. Cruz is from Mexico and graduated from Universidad Nacional Autónoma de Mexico in 2008. After graduation she pursued a rotating equine internship at a busy private practice in Texas, USA, and then a mixed-large animal residency in internal medicine at The University of Tennessee. She became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine in 2013, while studying her Master of Sciences at UT; her research was oriented to clinical applications of stem cells in equine neurology.

She has worked in in a charity hospital for working equids (Fez, Morocco), in academia (Australia and Canada) and in private practice (Canada) prior to moving to Ontario. Her main professional interests include respiratory, neurology, neuromuscular, gastrointestinal, and equine neonatology although besides being an internist she also enjoys general practice and quite likes equine surgery.
