Dr. Heinze is a 1976 graduate of the Purdue University School of Veterinary Medicine. He is a member of the American Association of Equine Practitioners, American Veterinary Medical Association, and the Indiana Equine Practitioners Association. Dr. Heinze is a founding member of the Illinois Equine Practitioners Association, where he also serves on the Executive Board.

He has been in private practice since graduation, working in the states of Florida, Indiana and Illinois. In Indiana, he worked alongside his father, Charles Heinze, D.V.M., who had a referral equine surgical practice in West Lafayette, Indiana. In 1987, he moved to Illinois and soon after started Fox Valley Equine Practice. He enjoys all aspects of equine medicine, with an emphasis on lameness, chiropractic, and dental issues.

Dr. Heinze is married and has two grown sons. He enjoys travel, water sports, and gardening. (Source)
