David T. Runk, VMD ACVIM

I graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine in 1995. Upon graduation, I completed a yearlong internship in equine field service at UPenn. In 1996, I moved to California to pursue a residency in Large Animal Medicine at UC Davis. I completed my residency in 1999 and received Board Certification in Large Animal Medicine soon after. In 1999, I began my mobile equine practice in the surrounding area. I have provided on-site veterinarian coverage at horse shows in Northern California for over 15 years to give back to the community that has supported my business and allowed it to grow.

What would you like to contribute as a NorCal board member?
Over the years, I feel I have developed a strong working knowledge of the horse show industry in Northern California. I have spoken with exhibitors, trainers and staff about their needs and desires to make Northern California a unique and special place to show their horses. I feel that I am positioned to give a unique veterinary perspective to the Board regarding many recent decisions of the USEF and USHJA. I feel I can provide an impartial viewpoint within the NorCal Board and provide its members with continued support. My goal would be to bring forth meaningful discussions to solve the many issues facing the NorCal Board over next two years.

How do you think NorCal can best fulfill the needs of its membership?
I feel that the best way to meet the needs of the membership is to request their input and make informed decisions regarding the horse show industry in Northern California. The members of NorCal desire to be recognized for their hard work and dedication to their sport. The Board has the capabilities and means to ensure that those goals are maintained for its members.
