Dehaven Batchelor, DVM

Born and raised in Central Florida, attending Winter Park High School, then Florida State University as an undergraduate majoring in Biology and Chemistry, with parallel studies at Florida A&M in animal science and on to veterinary school at Tuskegee University. His early education and interest in horses began in junior high school with riding and showing hunter/jumpers during the summer. After graduating from Tuskegee in 1974, he returned to Central Florida and began his career in a small animal/mixed animal practice. Shortly thereafter, he started Central Florida Equine Hospital as the culmination of his childhood aspiration to become an equine veterinarian. Since that time, the practice has expanded from a predominantly ambulatory practice to now include a clinic facility.

Over the last 30 years, Dee and his wife, Debbie, have bred and exhibited “Best in Show” winning smooth collies and also breed miniature paint horses. They both actively enjoy house remodeling (holding a state certified residential contractors license) and invest lots of their time in outdoor work and gardening both in Florida and at their farm in Tryon, N.C.
