Emily grew up in Morehead City, North Carolina, riding horses, running track/cross country, playing on the water, and spending as much time as possible outdoors. She attended, what is now, William Peace University for her undergraduate course work, graduating in 2003 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. Followed by, Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine for veterinary school, graduating in 2007 Suma Cum Laude. Emily, then, moved to New Bern after and married her husband, Brian Gilmette. At that same time, she began working for another mobile equine veterinary practice in the area.
In 2009 she opened Eastern Equine Associates Mobile Veterinary Service, and has been striving to practice the highest quality mobile veterinary medicine ever since. She has a special interest in equine podiatry, equine dentistry, and ambulatory surgery. She spends her free time riding her horse, paddle boarding, and spending time with her husband and dogs.
