Dr. Fernando Marqués earned his DVM degree from the University of Buenos Aires. After graduation, he stayed in Argentina as a successful practitioner practicing sports medicine on elite dressage and show jumping horses competing at the highest level. Besides providing excellent service, creating client loyalty was one of the most important pillars to build his practice and clientele. Thereafter in 2002, Dr. Marqués completed a 3-year Residency Program at the University of Wisconsin–Madison and became a Board-Certified Specialist in Large Animal Internal Medicine (“Diplomate ACVIM”). Following his residency, he joined the Western College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Saskatchewan as an Associate Professor, where he was one of the Board-Certified Specialists at the Veterinary Medical Centre (VMC); a renowned referral clinic serving all of western Canada. While in Canada, he was granted tenure status, a high achievement in the academic field, and held important leadership positions such as Assistant Hospital Director for the Large Animal Clinic at the VMC, Chair of the Equine Health Research Fund, and Chair of the Equine Health and Welfare Committee of the Saskatchewan Horse Federation. In 2013, Dr. Marqués was appointed as an Equine Subject Matter Expert by the International Council for Veterinary Assessment for the development of the North American Veterinary Licensing Examination and other tests used by Universities and State Licensing Boards. He now serves as a Board of Director-At-Large member for this prestigious organization. In 2016, Dr. Marqués returned to UW-Madison’s School of Veterinary Medicine as a Clinical Associate Professor of Internal Medicine and Equine Sports Medicine. (Source)
