Dr. Abuja grew up in Madrid, Spain, and went to veterinary school at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid. After earning his doctorate, he completed an internship at Dierenkliniek de Morette in Belgium, and then worked in equine referral hospitals in Madrid and Sharjah, the United Arab Emirates.
Following a surgical internship and residency at Tufts University, in Medford, Massachusetts, he worked in private practice in New York and Virginia. He became board-certified in large animal surgery in 2013 and certified in equine rehabilitation (CERP) by the University of Tennessee in 2022. Dr. Abuja’s main areas of clinical interest are sports medicine, surgery , and rehabilitation, with an emphasis on regenerative medicine. (Source)
