Hello, my name is Heather, and I grew up on Tennessee Walking Horses. A great Uncle of mine used them on his cattle ranch in Montana and that is how my family came to know the breed. This breed and I have been working together professionally for 20 years now. Both on the trail and in the show ring.
The gaited breeds are my favorite. They typically have ultra calm and forgiving temperaments, as well as a smooth ride. It is not uncommon for young 3 and 4 year old horses to be used as lesson horses. They make great all around horses for individuals as well as families. (Source)
