Dr. Spurkland grew up on the Kenai Peninsula spending most of her time riding horses and raising pigs, cows, chickens, etc in the local 4-H club. She left the state after graduating from Ninilchik High School for a few years to pursue schooling and graduated from Michigan State University in 2013. After completion of an internship in an advanced equine veterinary hospital working with racehorses in Kentucky, she was ready to come home to Alaska. Janelle returned to the Kenai Peninsula to join the Homer Veterinary Clinic on May 2016. (Source)
