Jennifer A. Phelan

Jen has been involved with horses for over thirty years. As a child, she competed at various East Coast horse shows and won many year-end awards in the pony hunter divisions. She also enjoyed competing in the equitation ring and was a member of the University of New Hampshire IHSA team.

Jen began her professional career in 2006. Since then, she has refined her teaching methods to impart foundational hunt seat skills while allowing her riders to develop their own style. She sets high standards for correct equitation, proper, compassionate treatment of horses, and excellent riding. Jen does not just teach how to ride; she explains why each correction is required. She teaches the way she would like to be taught: giving a reason for each action, being mindful of what a horse may be messaging, and always focused on good, solid horsemanship. Her students may be beginners or veterans, but they all are motivated and attentive to details while maintaining a healthy level of humor and humility. (Source)
