Jennifer D. Godman, BVMS MS MRCVS

Dr. Godman is a highly trained surgeon, internist, and criticalist. After graduating from the University Of Glasgow School Of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Godman completed a hospital internship with Peterson & Smith Equine Hospital, an Equine Internal Medicine Fellowship with Hagyard Equine Medical Institute in Lexington, Kentucky and a Residency in Equine Emergency and Critical Care at The Ohio State University Veterinary Medical Center. Dr. Godman has a love for teaching and taught future veterinarians while at The Ohio State University. Several of our veterinary technicians have gone on to veterinary school after inspiration from Dr. Godman.

Since Dr. Godman joined AVS Equine Hospital in 2016 she has proven her skills to AVS Equine Hospital and our clients and patients as she has performed many successful colic surgeries, arthroscopies, and other orthopedic and soft tissue surgeries. Dr. Godman has also overseen the care of many critically ill horses and foals since she joined us in 2016. Dr. Godman has also become a favorite referral DVM for many equine veterinarians in the Alabama/Georgia/north Florida area as she has shown her veterinary expertise and communication skills to these veterinarians and their clients.

I have been practicing equine veterinary medicine since 1982 and there are not very many veterinarians who can do it all and do it all very well. Dr. Godman is excellent at lameness, surgery, internal medicine, ultrasound, radiology, and emergency care. She is one of only a very few criticalists in the tri-state area. Dr. Godman is excellent with clients and horses and she is a work horse herself. She doesn’t stop until the job is done perfectly.
