Jennifer Elaine Smith, DVM

Jennifer Smith grew up in the Portland area and attended University of Portland majoring in Biology, and then graduated from Oregon State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine in 2003. She initially mastered equine general practice medicine and then dabbled in small animal general practice. Her general practice experience allowed for a solid wellness background before developing her unique specialty practice.

Wellness through nutrition, lifestyle, and fitness are at the center of Dr. Smith’s practice philosophy. The foundation of your pet’s health comes through quality species appropriate minimally processed foods, and is integrated into the body through mental and physical wellness. Maximizing muscle health and joint mobility leads to the highest quality of life. Nutritional consultation, acupuncture, traditional chinese medicine theory, and chiropractic care are all tools Dr. Smith can utilize to help your pet.

For her equine patients who are ridden, in addition to the therapies mentioned above, Dr. Smith has spent years studying saddle fitting, and understands the implications that both rider and saddle have on the physical and mental wellness of the horse. She is not only able to consult on your saddle fit, but she has extensive training adjusting both the flocking and the trees of english saddles on-site at your farm.

In her spare time, Jennifer enjoys riding her horse, running, swimming, and cycling. An avid learner, she is always striving to enrich her personal and professional life with new insights into health and wellness through continuing education and collaboration with like minded professionals and practitioners worldwide.
