Dr. Joan Ayers joined GVEC as the 2008-09 intern after graduating from the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine. During her graduate studies, she took part in some unique learning experiences such as helping out at a veterinary clinic in Morocco and working with an equine practitioner near Seville, Spain. She also gained valuable practical experience working in the test barn at Canterbury Park Race Track near St. Paul, Minnesota. Dr. Ayers enjoys general practice and has a special interest in diagnostic imaging. As a teenager she spent many hours schooling her Thoroughbred mare in dressage, and hopes to find time to return to the saddle. (Source)
