Dr. Herning’s interest in horses and Veterinary Medicine started with his learning to ride & Event in England during his father’s Air Force tour in the 70’s. Graduating from Washington State University school of Veterinary Medicine in 1987, he fulfilled an Internship with Delaware Equine Center and stayed on as an associate where he developed a flat racing/steeplechase and English Performance Horse practice. He served as an official veterinarian at Radnor, Fairhill International and numerous other East Coast three day events. He & his family returned to the Pacific Northwest in 2000, establishing Valley Equine Sports Medicine in South Spokane.
Dr. Herning currently competes in three day eventing in the tri-state area and Hunter/Jumper shows with his wife Sue. When not working or riding, they enjoy exploring the mountains that surround us, hiking and camping. (Source)
