Juan Valdez, DVM

Juan Valdez spent his early years on California’s central coast where he helped his father manage the family’s equine breeding farm in Nipomo. As a teenager he observed his first ever colic work-up when one of his family’s horses began to colic and his interest in veterinary medicine was sparked. He went on to work with the local veterinarian who had seen that colic, Dr. Troy Osborne and continued that work for three years during his summers as a college student. In 2018, he earned his Bachelor of Science in Animal Science from California State University, Chico. During his time there, he worked at the Organic Dairy Farm, Swine Unit, and was a member of the California Young Cattlemen’s Association. Following his undergraduate degree, he earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Midwestern University. During his time in Arizona, he also worked at Chaparral Veterinary Medical Center assisting ambulatory veterinarians focusing predominantly on racehorses and other performance horses. His special interests include sports medicine, surgery, and neonatal medicine. (Source)
