Dr. Miller, a native of Canada, graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of New Brunswick and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the Atlantic Veterinary College at the University of Prince Edward Island in 2002. As a senior veterinary student, Dr. Miller was published in the Journal of Veterinary Internal Medicine, the Equine Veterinary Journal and the Proceedings of the 49th AAEP Annual Convention. He received the Vetoquinol® Award for Proficiency and Excellence in Equine Medicine and Surgery that same year.
Following graduation, Dr. Miller completed an Internship in Ambulatory Equine Practice at Peterson and Smith Equine Hospital in Ocala, Florida where he later returned to work as an Associate Veterinarian focusing primarily on Thoroughbred reproduction, Thoroughbred racehorses in training and Thoroughbred sales.
Dr. Miller was hired as a Staff Veterinarian in the Equine Ambulatory Department of the Atlantic Veterinary College in Charlottetown, PEI where he focused primarily on Standardbred racehorses and served as an instructor to senior students.
In 2006, Dr. Miller joined Shambley Equine Clinic as an Associate and was made Partner in 2008. During his tenure with Shambley Equine Clinic, Dr. Miller received training in colic surgery at Colorado State University in Fort Collins. The practice was rebranded Charleston Equine Clinic in 2017 and has grown to become the largest equine practice in the Lowcountry.
Dr. Miller is a member of the American Association of Equine Practitioners and the International Society of Equine Locomotor Pathology. His practice style is evidence-based and leading edge medicine tempered with compassion and empathy for both horse and rider.
Dr. Miller’s professional interests include performance evaluation and treatment, diagnostic imaging and regenerative medicine. His personal interests include history, hiking and deer hunting and spending time with his family. (Source)
