Dr. Dunlavy is managing partner of Kentucky Equine Medical Associates, PLLC.
His father a breeder/owner and former jockey and trainer, Dr. Dunlavy was immersed in horse racing from childhood. He earned a DVM degree in 1992 from Louisiana State University, and a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry in 1988 from the University of Arkansas.
A member of the American Association of Equine Practitioners since 1991, Dr. Dunlavy has served on its Racing Committee, Ethics Committee, and On Call Program.
He has been the attending veterinarian for six Kentucky Derby winners, including Justify (Triple Crown winner ’18), American Pharoah (Triple Crown winner ’15), California Chrome (’14), Mine That Bird (’09), Real Quiet (’98), and Silver Charm (’97).
Dr. Dunlavy offers clients cutting-edge veterinary service and an intuitive perspective built upon a lifetime of working with horses.
When not working with horses, he is spending family-time with his wife Polly and children Tristan, Kate, and Ethan. (Source)
