Leah Knox, DVM

Dr Leah grew up in Eastern Ontario, spending much of her childhood on the back of a pony! She competed on the hunter/jumper circuit for many years from the pony hunters to the 1.30m jumpers. She completed her undergraduate degree in Animal Biology at the University of Guelph in 2006, and her DVM at the Ontario Veterinary College in 2012. Following graduation from vet school, Dr Leah completed an intensive, year long internship at an equine referral hospital in California. She joined the team at Gilson Equine full time in 2013.

Dr Leah is passionate about equitarian work and volunteers on equine veterinary relief projects around the world whenever she is able. In 2018, Dr Leah took a break from regular practice and worked in Africa, providing free veterinary care for working horses and donkeys. Since her return to Canada, she has rejoined the Gilson Equine team on a part time basis.

In 2020, Dr Leah completed her training in equine acupuncture at the Chi Institute in Florida. Dr Leah enjoys taking an integrative approach, combining her training in both Western and Eastern veterinary medicine to provide the best care possible for her patients. (Source)
