Dr. Lisa Okuda grew up riding Hunter/Jumpers in Southern California and also participated in showing her beloved Samoyed. Before completing her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree at the University of California, Davis, she worked as a technician at an emergency equine hospital while attending the University of California, San Diego for her Bachelor in Animal Physiology and Neuroscience. Following veterinary school, Dr. Okuda received her certification in medical acupuncture from Colorado State University, and also completed a 14 month internship working alongside board certified specialists at the renowned Alamo Pintado Equine Medical Center in Los Olivos, CA. It was there that she met and married her husband, Alberto, and decided to create a home in the Santa Ynez Valley. (Source)
