Since Marika was a young child she has loved all animals, but horses have truly captured her heart. She attended the University of Guelph obtaining her Bachelor degree in molecular biology and genetics before continuing on to finish her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the Ontario Veterinary College. During her time at OVC she served as president of the OVC’s student chapter of the American Association of Equine Practitioners. After graduating from OVC she finished a rotating equine internship at Tennessee Equine Hospital before coming home to Markdale Veterinary Services. During her down time she enjoys taking care of and showing her all around western performance horses. (Source)
