Marshall T. Stevens, DVM

Marshall Stevens DVM is a native of Michigan and graduate of Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Prior to making the decision to attend veterinary school he had a strong interest in horses. His interest was built through competition in the hunter and jumper divisions in the Midwest and Florida, work at a thoroughbred breeding farm and participation on the inter-collegiate team at Grand Valley State University while completing a degree in Chemistry. Looking to combine the science of medicine with his horse experience Dr. Stevens worked as a veterinary assistant, this solidified his interest in attending veterinary school and becoming an equine veterinarian. During veterinary school he spent 4 months off-campus visiting clinics in Kentucky, New Jersey, Northern Virginia, and Florida allowing him to interact with a large number of veterinarians, types of practices, and treatment options.

Following veterinary school he completed a one year internship at a large referral hospital in Ocala, Florida, furthering his education and providing him with a wide range of experiences including referral lameness and diagnostic evaluations, ambulatory sports medicine, hospitalized patient care, reproduction, neonatal care, general ambulatory care. During his internship Dr. Stevens was drawn to the care of the performance horses who had come to Ocala to compete throughout the winter. This helped him make the decision to continue working with performance horses and eventually led him back to the Midwest where he has practiced since the fall of 2012.

Outside of veterinary medicine Dr. Stevens enjoys spending time with family and friends, preferably outdoors and commonly in a kayak or on a snowshoe trail. (Source)
