Matthew M. Imel, DVM

Dr. Imel grew up in a small town in eastern Kansas on a ranch raising beef cattle and ranch horses. He attended Junior College in Hutchison, KS on an athletic scholarship where he played basketball and football. His football team made bowl appearances both years he was there. He then transferred to Mesa State College in Grand Junction, CO where he continued to play basketball and football. He completed a Bachelors degree in BIology with a minor in Chemistry.

Matt was accepted to veterinary school at Kansas State University and graduated in 2002. He promptly moved to Texas to become an equine veterinarian. He worked alongside Dr. Howell for 4 years and then pursued a career as a mobile equine veterinarian for 6 years. Dr. Imel has now focused his efforts on Peak Performance Equine Hospital to help make it one of the leading Equine hospitals in Texas.

Matt has been married to Dr. Erin Imel for 10 years. The veterinary duo has had two children in the mean time, Merritt and Senne. Matt enjoys all aspects of equine practice, but tends to focus on reproduction and dentistry. His hobbies include helping coach his kids on athletic teams, team roping and raising a few good horses.
