Melissa Mitchell, DVM

Melissa Mitchell, DVM was born and raised in High Point, NC. She discovered her passion for horses from an early age, riding and competing avidly in the Hunter/Jumper division. She attended North Carolina State University for an undergraduate degree in Animal Science and Biological Science, prior to attending Veterinary School at Colorado State University. After graduating from veterinary school, Dr Mitchell completed a year long internship at Texas Equine Hospital, in Bryan, Texas.

While enjoying most aspects of equine veterinary medicine, Dr Mitchell has a special interest in sports medicine and lameness pertaining to the working and performance horse. In order to better serve her patients, she practices equine acupuncture. Dr Mitchell believes in a holistic and integrative approach for prevention, as well as problem solving, to maintain the soundness and overall health of equine athletes and pleasure horses alike.
