Michael D. Major, DVM MS DACVS

Dr. Major grew up working cattle in his father’s practice in Watonga, Oklahoma. When he wasn’t working at the vet clinic, he was running a hay hauling business, or working on the family farms. While a pre-vet student, he worked in a racetrack practice in New Mexico, which started his passions for a career as an equine veterinarian. He has been in a private practice as an equine surgeon for nearly 30 years. His special interests include upper respiratory, orthopedic surgery, and sports medicine. He has enjoyed working with cutting edge technology for diagnosis and treatment of challenging lameness cases.

Dr. Major has been raising and racing thoroughbreds for 15 years. This has given him a personal appreciation for all the highs and lows his clients experience with their horses. If operating and owning horses isn’t enough to keep him tired and humble, he also has six children, and likes to play a little golf when he gets time. (Source)
