Dr. Boldt grew up around horses thanks to his father. He learned to ride when he was four years old between the family’s home in Germantown, TN, and a relative’s ranch outside of Houston, TX. This started his lifelong love of the horse. For many years, Dr Boldt rode Hunter/Jumpers, but eventually started riding Western performance horses. When the family moved to the New Orleans, LA area, of course the family horses did too!
During high school, Dr Boldt started working for his mentor, Dr. Jim Biermann, whose practice was in the New Orleans, LA area. This was an equine ambulatory practice that eventually moved to Covington, LA, and developed into an ambulatory and equine reproduction practice.
Dr Boldt graduated from Louisiana State University in 1979 with a degree in Animal Science. He then graduated in 1984 from the Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine with his DVM. Following graduation, he went into practice with Dr Biermann. He later moved to Beaumont, TX, for a time working for Dr Jake Sherwood in a mixed animal practice. Prior to moving to Colorado, Dr. Boldt had an ambulatory equine practice in the New Orleans, LA area for over 12 years. During this time in practice, he received his certification in veterinary acupuncture through the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society (1993) and his certification in veterinary chiropractic through the American Veterinary Chiropractic Association (1996).
Currently Dr. Boldt’s equine practice is limited to complementary veterinary medicine (veterinary acupuncture/veterinary chiropractic/Chinese herbal medicine) based out of his farm in Fort Collins, CO. He currently sees clients not only in Colorado, but also Louisiana, Texas, Mississippi and Oklahoma. Dr. Boldt is a licensed veterinarian in all of the states in which he practices. (Source)
