Dr. Rachel joined Leatherstocking in 2005, following graduation from St. George’s University. Rachel grew up in the small town of Sherbrooke, Nova Scotia. She completed her undergraduate work at Mount Allison University in New Brunswick before working for one year as a food microbiologist prior to veterinary school.
Rachel enjoys all aspects of our diverse veterinary practice, although her special interests include mare reproduction, foals (both the healthy ones and those in trouble), and also enjoys working with dairy cattle, small ruminants and camelids.
Outside of work Rachel spends time with her husband Chris, their son Fraser, and their dog Emma on their small farm. She enjoys riding her gypsy Panda, working with their Oxford sheep, gardening, kayaking and downhill skiing. During the time she has lived in New York she has come to enjoy the rural atmosphere, and looks forward to having her son grow up surrounded by agriculture. (Source)
