President Board Certified Internal Medicine Specialist Radiation Safety Officer Dr. Rodney Belgrave has been the Staff Internist and director of the Internal Medicine Department at the Mid-Atlantic Equine Medical Center since 2003. After graduating from the Atlantic Veterinary College of Prince Edward Island in 1997, Dr. Belgrave completed an Equine Internship at the Mid-Atlantic Equine Medical Center. Following his internship, he completed a three-year Equine Internal Medicine residency and Master’s degree in Veterinary Medicine at Washington State University. His research involved evaluating the use of a polymerized ultrapurified hemoglobin product in anemic horses requiring blood transfusions. Following his residency, Dr. Belgrave was a clinical lecturer at the University of Florida’s Veterinary Teaching Hospital. The American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine awarded Dr. Belgrave Diplomate status in 2001. He has been published in numerous peer-reviewed journals and has presented at the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine’s annual conference and many other continuing education seminars. In 2009 and 2011 he presented his findings on cases of “Equine Multinodular Pulmonary Fibrosis” and on the “Use of Serum Amyloid A in Clinical Cases” at the American Association of Equine Practitioners (AAEP) and American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM) annual conferences. In October 2014, he presented at the Bluegrass meeting in Lexington on “Equine Multinodular Pulmonary Fibrosis” and “Treatment and Management of Bacterial Pleuropneumonia.” Dr. Belgrave has served on the educational program committee of the AAEP and is past president of the North East Association of Equine Practitioners (NEAEP). His specialty interests include respiratory and neurological disorders, neonatology, and gastroenterology. He is involved in a clinical research project with Boehringer Ingelheim surveying the incidence of infectious diseases of the upper respiratory tract in young racehorses. dr_belgrave@midatlanticequine.com (Source)
