Shane Harley, MVB

Dr. Shane Harley grew up in Donegal, in the north-west of Ireland. His passion for horses began at a young age, mainly in the world of show jumping. This, alongside his family background in farming, inevitably led him to pursue a career as a veterinarian. Dr. Harley graduated from University College Dublin Vet school with first class honours in 2018. He began his career as a surgical intern at Hagyard Equine Medical Institute in Lexington, Kentucky in June of 2018. He then was offered the opportunity to stay on as a performance horse veterinarian where he divided his time between Kentucky and Florida. Dr. Harley gained a wealth of experience in the world of sport horse work as well as thoroughbred and sales work. His main interests are lameness work-ups, diagnostic imaging and field surgery. He has recently joined our team after spending some time at home where he gained invaluable experience as a mixed animal practitioner. Dr. Harley is excited to be joining our Ocala team and pursuing his life long dream of working alongside some of the world’s top equine athletes, both four- and two-legged. (Source)
