Sofia Santacaterina, DVM

Sofia grew up overseas where she learned most of her horsemanship skills, and graduated from UConn with a Bachelors of Animal Science. At UConn, Sofia was captain of the UConn Dressage Team, and spent the majority of her free time working in the horse barn or foaling out mares. She earned her DVM from Lincoln Memorial University, and graduated in 2020. After graduation, she moved to Texas for internship training at Brazos Valley Equine Hospital – Stephenville, an extremely busy sports medicine practice. At Brazos Valley, Sofia managed a high case load of both medicine and surgery cases, while her husband Tyler established himself locally as a highly recommended farrier around the equine mecca of Stevenville. Sofia and Tyler are excited to be back in the mountains, and very happy to be joining the team at Sawtooth Equine. She has a special interest in sports medicine and is certified in veterinary acupuncture and chiropractic care. (Source)
