Dr. Veronica Feigel is a board certified veterinary ophthalmologist who grew up in Ottawa. She completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Maastricht in The Netherlands; and received her veterinary medicine degree from St. Matthews University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2010, in which her clinical year was completed at Purdue University. Following graduation, she completed a year long internship at Virginia Equine Imagine in Middleburg, Virginia. She then worked as a general practice small animal veterinarian in the Ottawa area from May 2012 to May 2016. Due to her passion in ophthalmology, she also spent weekly days off shadowing and learning from a veterinary ophthalmologist from 2013 to 2016. In June 2019 Dr. Feigel completed her three year comparative veterinary ophthalmology residency program at VCA Alta Vista Animal Hospital, with external rotations completed at the University of Florida. She went on to work as a veterinary ophthalmologist in West Palm Beach, Florida, before happily returning to her home town of Ottawa to join the OAESH specialty team in June 2020.
Dr. Feigel has a passion for ophthalmology, ophthalmic surgery, and in providing the highest level of care and kindness to her patients. Her own dogs are so important to her, so she believes that the best medicine is performed by treating each patient as if they were her own.
In her spare time, Dr. Feigel enjoys spending time outdoors; with her two dogs, Chloe, a Golden Doodle, and Lucy, a Cayman Island Street dog from which she adopted from the Cayman Islands Humane Society; as well as her two horses, Lust for Life and Annabella. She would like to get back to her previous love of show jumping in the near future. (Source)
