Wayne B. Schmotzer, DVM DACVS

Dr. Schmotzer earned his BS and DVM degrees from Michigan State University in 1981. In 1982, he joined the faculty at Oregon State University College of Veterinary Medicine as an Instructor in Medicine. In 1983, he was selected for a three year large animal surgical residency at Oregon State University. In 1988, Dr. Schmotzer was trained in advanced arthroscopic surgery at Colorado State University. He became a Diplomate in the American College of Veterinary Surgeons in 1992 and a tenured Associate Professor in 1993. While a clinical surgeon at OSU, Dr. Schmotzer developed an ophthalmology referral service and authored or co-authored over 40 scientific publications. Dr. Schmotzer was a founder of BEMC and was a co-owner along with Dr. Krebs for many years. He is now retired but still loves to consult on specialty cases. (Source)
