William J. Maupin, DVM

Dr Maupin grew up in Iowa Park, Texas where he developed a fascination for the athletic ability of the horses that he rode. This early interest eventually blossomed into his life-long passion for equine sports medicine. He attended Oklahoma State University where he graduated with both his Bachelors of Science and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degrees, emphasizing in equine practice. He received the Equine Clinicians Award and the Baldwin Horsemanship Award during his tenure with OSU. Dr Maupin has been practicing large animal veterinary medicine with Idaho Equine Hospital since 1988 and he became an owner of the hospital in 1990. He specializes in lameness and sports medicine. Dr Maupin has also performed surgery at Idaho Equine Hospital since 1988, ranging from castrations to life-saving colic surgeries. He is a member of the AAEP, IVMA and the AVMA. As the CEO of Idaho Equine Hospital, Dr Maupin dons his accounting hat overseeing the financial aspects of the business. He has been married to his wife Teresa since 1984 and has two sons. Dr Maupin has been active in the local community coaching his boys through many years of youth baseball, basketball and football. For relaxation Dr Maupin enjoys golfing, camping, fishing and hunting and has fond memories of two African safaris taken with his sons. (Source)
