G & E Pharmacy

It all began in 1959 when Erwin Fech graduated from pharmacy. He and his father Gerhard decided to open a business together and G&E Pharmacy was born. They are the “G” and the “E” in G&E Pharmacy. Gerhard’s wife Martha also contributed to the business in her own special way. Many of our oldest customers have fond memories of her sitting behind the counter selling chocolate bars or giving out no-nonsense advice.

A few years after the founding of the business they hired a shy young Pharmacist named Ilse Wanke. She didn’t know it at the time, but this job was going to change her life. After working for him a few years, Ilse fell in love with Erwin. They married in 1973, and a year later their oldest daughter Karin was born. They had two more girls after that. Today Erwin is enjoying retirement, but his wife and all three of the girls are still involved with G&E Pharmacy. Over the years the business has grown to include many long-term employees who are like family to us.
