Laurelyn Keener, DVM met Dr. Bowman while finishing her undergraduate degrees (Biology and German) at the University of Minnesota-Duluth in 2003. An interest in equine dentistry was sparked and she attended veterinary school at Michigan State University with the intent of working for Dr. Bowman in the future.
Following graduation, Dr. Keener completed a one-year internship in equine and camelid medicine and surgery at Buckeye Veterinary Service in Burton, OH. In 2010, she accepted a position with Dr. Bowman and since that time has limited her practice to equine dental care.
During the summer of 2013, Dr. Keener formed North Wind Equine, LLC and purchased the dental practice from Dr. Bowman as he looked to retire.
Dr. Keener lives in Duluth with her husband and their flock of chickens. When she isn’t working, she enjoys spending time with her miniature donkey and four horses (two Icelandics and two Georgian Grandes), running, sewing, and solving crossword puzzles. (Source)
