Dr Knox was born into the horse industry and it has remained a central theme in his life. He grew up in southeastern Idaho where he and his brothers wreaked havoc on their family’s horse breeding and training farm. He was active in Pony Club growing up achieving his A rating and competing in tetrathalon. He also coached the US Pony Club Tetrathalon team and accompanied them to competitions in Ireland and England. He attended Colorado State University for both his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology (1995) and for his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree which he completed in 2001. He began his affiliation with Idaho Equine Hospital in 2001 as an intern. He continued his education at Texas A&M University completing a three-year large animal surgery residency in 2005. He then rejoined Idaho Equine Hospital in 2005 as a member of the lameness and surgery team. In 2007 he successfully completed his certifying exams and became board certified in large animal surgery by the American College of Veterinary Surgeons. He became a partner in the practice in 2010. His areas of interest include lameness and sports medicine as well as laparoscopic surgery, fracture repair, and equine dentistry. Dr Knox is a member of AAEP, ACVS and the AVMA. Dr Knox is married to fellow equine veterinarian Robin Knight and they have 2 boys that are on the move constantly. Dr Knox enjoys skiing, home improvement projects, playing with his kids, and he has become an avid ultra-running competitor. (Source)
