My journey studying bodywork started in 2006. I had chronic back pain from a car accident in 1999, and wanted a deeper understanding of how to heal myself. I graduated from the Soma Institute for Clinical Massage Therapy in 2007, and continued to study other techniques, including Pre-Natal Massage, Lomi Lomi (a traditional Hawaiian healing art), as well as Equine Bodywork which have all helped me to be more mindful of how I engage with my client’s tissues. I’ve worked in some of Chicago’s top Luxury Spas, including mySpa at the Fairmont, the Waldorf Astoria Spa, and Exhale Spa of the Gold Coast. I’ve also trained with Evan Osar and Jenice Mattek of Fitness Education Seminars, and have graduated their Integrative Movement Specialist program for Corrective Exercise therapy. I continued researching other modalities, such as Thai Bodywork and Fascial mobilization, in tandem with my equine-focused courses on biomechanics, anatomy and saddle fitting; all of which have helped to deepen my perspective and sharpen my eye to imbalances in my clients, horse and human alike. I encourage riders to receive work along with their horses, because the rider’s posture and level of skill will greatly affect the horse’s ability to balance and perform at his job. (Source)
