Introduction to Equine Biologic and Regenerative Therapies.

Abstract: Regenerative medicine is defined as the process of replacing or regenerating cells, tissues, or organs to restore or establish normal function. The use of regenerative medicine in equine practice to treat injured musculoskeletal tissues with limited capacity for intrinsic healing is growing. This article provides the practitioner with a brief and basic overview of the regenerative products currently used in equine practice.

This research article provides an overview of the use of regenerative medicine in treating musculoskeletal injuries in horses that have a restricted ability to heal themselves.

Overview of Regenerative Medicine

  • Regenerative medicine is a branch of medical science that focuses on replacing or regenerating cells, tissues, or organs to restore or establish their normal function.
  • Regenerative medicine holds the potential to deal with some of the major health problems that are difficult to treat using conventional treatments and has applications in numerous fields, like orthopedics, cardiology, etc.

Regenerative Medicine in Equine Practice

  • The research article particularly focuses on the use of regenerative medicine in equine practice, treating horses who are dealing with musculoskeletal injuries, which have limited healing abilities.
  • Equine practice refers to the veterinary care and treatment techniques for horses. It includes diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of diseases, disorders, and injuries in horses.

Growth of Regenerative Therapies in Equine Practice

  • The application of regenerative medicine in equine practice has been growing as it has shown effective results in treating musculoskeletal injuries that are hard to heal intrinsically.
  • By providing an improved understanding of the fundamentals of regenerative medicine and therapies, this research paper aims to help veterinary practitioners to broaden their approach in treating equine injuries.

Overview of Regenerative Products in Equine Practice

  • The article provides an introduction to various regenerative products currently used in equine practice.
  • These products, predominantly used for their healing and regenerative properties, might include different types of cells, biomaterials, and molecules.
  • Further, the research can be beneficial for equine practitioners to keep themselves updated about recent advancements in the field of equine regenerative medicine.
