As a young man growing up in Norman Oklahoma Dr. Chastain enjoyed working on ranches and farms and was actively involved with horses and cattle. Well educated and passionate about his work, Dr. Chastain has been practicing veterinary medicine since he obtained his DVM in 2000 from Oklahoma State University. (Go Pokes!)
After building a successful large animal practice in Oklahoma, Dr. Chastain made the decision to move to New Mexico in 2007 to work for a Race Track Practice. In 2011, he became a sole practitioner focusing on racing, lameness and performance offering ambulatory services only. The practice serves Albuquerque Downs Racetrack and Albuquerque surrounding areas for farm work.
Dr. Chastain follows the Principles of Veterinary Medical Ethics as well as the Ethical and Professional Guidelines set forth by the AAEP. Being honest and fair in his relations with Clients while considering the health and welfare of the patient are paramount to his beliefs. A firm believer in continuing education he attends meetings each year to learn new methods and technology. Dr. Chastain has some of the best equipment and technology to offer his clients including, Digital Radiographs, Ultrasound, Shockwave Therapy, Gastroscopy, and the Lameness Locator® by Equinosis®.
Outside of practice, Dr. Chastain enjoys spending time with his wife, Sabrina and young son AJ. The couple enjoy travel, spending time with friends and family and Native American art. The Family is working hard to build their new home/facility in the North Valley of Albuquerque.
