Doc is a native Coloradan. He was born in Longmont and raised in Lakewood, CO. After graduating from high school, he attended the University of Colorado, Boulder, where he received a BS in Molecular Biology in 1974. Two years later he was accepted by the University of Cambridge, England, to study veterinary medicine. While a student, he did externships with Rossdale, Hunt, Peace, Hopes and Ricketts of Newmarket and Kirkbride and Carter of Cambridge. In 1981, he graduated with a degree in Veterinary Medicine and Surgery. Upon returning to Colorado, Doc had internships with Littleton Large Animal Clinic and Belcaro Animal Hospital, both near Denver. In 1982, he took a position as an associate veterinarian and moved to Delta, CO. In 1986, he opened Dorr Veterinary Hospital and it has been at its present location since 1987. His area of special interest is orthopedic surgery. Away from the clinic, he enjoys spending time with his son and working on his farm. Doc’s other interests include aviation. He is an instrument rated private pilot and also holds a multi-engine, commercial license. (Source)
