Ann E. McCombs, DVM MS

Originally from Iowa, Ann grew up on a small ranch with dogs, cats and horses. She knew she wanted to be a horse vet by the time she was 10 years old. Ann attended Iowa State University and received a BS in Animal Science. She continued her education at Iowa State and received a Masters degree in Reproductive Physiology. She took a few years out of school working on research at Huntington Medical Research Laboratories in Pasadena, California and got married to her husband Chris.

She returned to Iowa State University’s Veterinary Teaching Hospital and graduated in 1993. Ann has additional equine veterinary training from the University of Pennsylvania and the University of California at Davis. After working 5 years in private practice for Fox River Valley Equine Hospital, Ann started her own practice, McCombs Equine Veterinary Services. Ann and Chris live on a small farm in Harvard along with several dogs, cats, chickens, horses and mules. When not providing veterinary services, Ann enjoys competitively driving her horse, competitive mounted orienteering, endurance riding/driving and schooling and conditioning her equines. She enjoys spending time on the farm with her family and friends.

Dr. McCombs is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the American Association of Equine Practitioners, the Illinois Equine Practitioners Association, the Unwanted Horse Coalition, and the HUB Club (driving horses). (Source)
