Dr. Broyles is a 2010 graduate from Texas A&M School of Veterinary Medicine. He grew up on a farm in Muleshoe, Texas. During high school Drs. Steve Kennedy and Barry Cowart of Muleshoe Animal Clinic began mentoring Brandon in veterinary medicine. His undergraduate work was done at Abilene Christian University (ACU) where he received a Bachelors of Animal Science and a minor in chemistry. During his four years at ACU he worked preconditioning around 35,000 head of sale barn cattle for Ray Etheredge.
After graduating from ACU he spent the next year and a half living in the Stamford and Throckmorton, Texas area working for Jody Bellah and the R.A. Brown Ranch. During vet school Dr. Broyles’ experiences ranged from spending time with Dr. Alan Donnell and Dr. David Frisbie (equine-sportsmedicine.com) at AQHA shows performing lameness exams to caring for 12,000 sale barn cattle for Pete Scarmardo of Caldwell, Texas. He also rode colts for the public and at the end of his vet school tenure studied equine reproduction under Dr. David Hartman of Whitesboro, Texas.
Dr. Broyles is a member of the American Association of Equine Practitioners (AAEP), the Academy of Veterinary Consultants, the American Veterinary Medical Association, and the Texas Veterinary Medical Association. He purchased Spur Veterinary Hospital Inc. from Dr. Edward S. Murray in January 2011.
Dr. Murray started Spur Veterinary Hospital in May 1963. He and his wife Joan moved to Spur after spending a year in Clarendon, Texas. Dr. Murray is a 1962 graduate of Colorado State University School of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Murray built a name for himself and the hospital as the “go to place” for equine issues. His influence on equine practice is felt nationwide. He was duly rewarded for his success by being elected president of the AAEP in 1990. Dr. Murray and his wife Joan still assist Dr. Broyles in the practice. Dr. Murray now enjoys spending more time successfully marketing cattle for Superior Livestock. Auctions. (Source)
